"The name of catechesis is given to the whole of the efforts within the Church to make disciples, to help people to believe that Jesus is the Son of God, so that believing they might have life in His name, and to educate and instruct them in this life and thus build up the Body of Christ." Pope John Paul II, 1979
The Parish devotes all of its structures to the cause of catechesis. It is self-evident and critical that all parish children receive meaningful formation. To that end the parish offers religious education from early ages. On Sunday morning, by means of Children's Liturgies, we begin to help our youngest members learn and love their faith.
Joan Hartman coordinates Children's Church (serving children age 3 - Kindergarten, Sunday morning at the 9 am Mass). Mary Ellen Kiley is responsible for Religious Education on Wednesday nights (CCD); she can be reached at (309) 452-2585. The Life Teen Youth Ministry is our response to the spiritual and formational needs of our high school children.
Home School Parents who assume the education and formation of their children have the support of the Diocese of Peoria, and the parish and its facilities. We strive to ensure that our home school families' needs are met and that their children are fully included in sacramental celebrations, when all parish children come together.
A very critical apostolate on any parish campus is youth ministry for high school students. Epiphany has had Life Teen, High School youth ministry, since May 2003. Visit the Life Teen International Web Site for more information, or our very own Epiphany Life Teen Web Site. Jim Surprenant, assisted by Cyndi Newmister, is our Youth Minister and is available at (309) 452-7043, or via Youth Ministry Email.
