Wall build event

What is the Faith House?

The Faith House is one of three houses that Habitat for Humanity of McLean County will build in 2024. It is being sponsored by several churches in the Bloomington/Normal area and will be located at 19 Trailside Ct. in Bloomington. Registration

All volunteers must register online at the Habitat for Humanity website. Click on June 15 to register using the provided link. A safety waiver is signed electronically (under the “More” link). This also facilitates cancelations and announcements that are emailed directly from Habitat for Humanity.  

 


WHERE: 

  •  Northside Church of Christ

    1908 North Towanda Barnes Road
    Bloomington, IL 61705

  •  Northside Church of Christ is our co-sponsor for the wall-build. They are providing the location for the wall-build.

  • Please park at the south end of the lot. Orange cones will be set up to indicate where to park and where the wall-building will take place.

 

 AGE:

  • The wall-build event is open to people age 12 and older. Minors must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. This event is a great opportunity to teach your children about serving those in need.

  • FYI: There will be monthly build events on the 2nd Saturday of the month from July to October at the Faith House construction site. These events held at the Habitat for Humanity construction site are open to age 16+.

ATTIRE:

  1.   Wear closed-toed shoes.

  2. Dress for the weather. Shorts may be worn on hotter days; however, knee coverage is suggested. 

  3. Long hair must be tied back.

  4. Do not wear loose articles of clothing such as long necklaces, long shirts, scarves, or anything that could get caught in the equipment

WHAT TO BRING:

  1. Bring a water bottle/hydrating beverage with you.  Limited water is available onsite.

  2. Volunteers are welcome to bring their own hammers, hard hats, safety glasses, or tool belts. However, Habitat has everything you will need available onsite.

TENTATIVE TIMETABLE:

  •  7:50 am:  Arrive

  • 8:00 am:  Light breakfast

  • 8:30 am:  Prayers and Introduction of the family that will reside in the Faith House

  • 9:00 am:  Build the walls!

  • 11:30 am: Clean up
